“‘Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?’ He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”  - Micah 6:7-8
We live in a society that believes you can buy your way out of most any infraction of the law. In addition, we have medications that allow us to live any way we want with little physical downside. There always seems to be a way to enable inappropriate living for a small fee.
With such thinking we can easily conclude that our accountability before God can be fulfilled by various gifts. If we donate our money, our time or our labor to the Lord's work we are tempted to believe that God will be satisfied with a sin-sick life.
What does the Lord look for in our daily walk my friend? He is never satisfied with a small fee that suggests freedom to live any way we want. He looks for that which is good ... just, kind and humble living. It's all about the quality of our lives, not the quantity of our gifts.
