"Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time" - Jonah 3:1
I knew a man some years ago that chose this verse as his life verse. He had trusted Christ at a young age and sensed God's call to ministry. Then he took a worldly path and fell out of fellowship for many years. But a day came when he returned to the Lord and this verse became quite personal.
Thankfully, we serve the God of second chances. In the wonderful grace of Jesus, we can begin again. Jonah is one example and Peter the apostle is another. As the Lord said much earlier, if His people would humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from their wicked ways, He would forgive their sin and they could begin again. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Maybe you need a fresh start my friend. Don't waste time; take this verse as an encouragement to begin again. Paul reminds us in Romans 11:29, "God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable." and in Philippians 1:6, "... He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Don't give up, just come back to the Lord and begin again.
