"There we found brothers and were invited to stay with them for seven days. And so we came to Rome. And the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage." -- Acts 28:14-15
Tom Bodett, spokesman for Motel 6, coined the phrase "We'll leave the light on for you" and it has been a smashing advertising success. People are drawn to the idea of someone waiting to welcome them after a long day's journey. It's really nice to find a taste of home wherever we travel.
Paul had been through the ringer on his trip to Rome and when fellow believers opened their homes to him, he "took courage". He found brothers along the way and at his new home in Rome. With the family of God there is always someone who will "leave the light on for you" along the way in life's journey.
When you travel, do you look for a good church to visit and Christian family members to befriend? And when you find a brother or sister believer passing through your life, do you welcome and encourage them, my friend? Let it always be said about the family of God... "We'll leave the light on for you".
