"He must increase, but I must decrease." -- John 3:30
Our entire purpose in life is to contribute to the increase of Jesus' glory. We are called to lift Him up, give him praise, give Him service, give Him love, and give Him worship. After all this is done we are commissioned to make Him known.
As John stated, we must decrease... "It's not about us". And Jesus must increase, "It's all about Him". There is no better way to honor Him than to serve in humility as we hide behind His cross. There is no greater success than to be unknown that He may be renowned.
John also stated, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven." (vs. 27) In light of this truth, what are you doing with what you have received my friend? Are you investing your time, talent and treasures to magnify the Lord Jesus as the humble anonymous servant? Remember... "It's all about Jesus", so He must increase and you must decrease.

This morning, at 5:30 a tremendous man of God went home to meet his Saviour and Chief Shepherd. This man was, at one time my pastor, then my mentor, then my friend and finally my father-in-law. Down through the years he has continued to fulfill all four roles in my life. I have been blessed and encouraged by his faithfulness and ministry and I will miss him greatly.
In line with the devotional thoughts of this day, George was truly committed to the devotion of John. Throughout life, he labored to decrease so Jesus Christ would increase. I am a witness to the fact that he succeeded. My pastor, mentor, friend, and father-in-law well deserves the Lord's welcome with the words "Well done".
