"Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher)." -- John 20:16
To whom does the honor go of experiencing the first meeting with the resurrected Christ? Like the first Bethlehem viewing having gone to simple shepherds, so this occasion went to a humble, but devoted woman. While Jesus appeared to the disciples soon after, this moment belonged to Mary. She was called by name and given the blessed assurance of the resurrection.
Today is Resurrection Sunday. As you rise to worship the living Savior, remember that each one of us is loved and blessed by name. We read earlier in John 10:3, "The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name..." While the whole world might stop to consider "Easter", take time to quietly meet with the One who has risen from the dead. Visit with your Lord, listen for His voice, and bow before Him in humble adoration and worship.
