"In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will look on the Holy One of Israel. He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands, and he will not look on what his own fingers have made, either the Asherim or the altars of incense." -- Isaiah 17:7-8
A vast number of marriages fall apart every year. Two people spent years building their world. They bought a house, a car and all the amenities that are a part of the "good life". As time passed these two began to live only for bigger and better until one day they came to realize that one thing was missing... a relationship.
The days of Isaiah were very much the same as today. People lived for themselves and were all about building personal material kingdoms. They chose to worship things rather than the Lord and the work of their hands was more important than anything else. They too were missing one thing... a relationship.
Your life with the Lord is much like a marriage. But if you seek to build your religion with the work of your hands you are sadly mistaken. It's not about buildings, programs or agendas. Nothing will replace the need for looking to your Maker, the Holy One of Israel. Seek His face my friend, because the most important thing should never be missing... a relationship.
