Today's Readings: OT - Exodus 8:20-9:7 / NT - Luke 24:36-53
"He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures." - Luke 24:44-45
I recently discovered a store that sells language programs. They promise to open a whole new world of foreign language quickly and easily. The material is supposed to provide the key that will bring instant understanding with very little effort. Well, many people find after much effort they still can’t find the promised "key" to instant understanding.
As Jesus shared with the disciples, he didn't offer them a secret combination or special academic program. He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. As a result, as time passed we read, "When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." (Acts 4:13) Jesus is the "key" to instant understanding.
Tomorrow's Readings: OT - Exodus 9:8-35 / NT - John 1:1-28
