Today's Readings: OT - Exodus 6:1-13 / NT - Luke 23:1-25
"And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other." - Luke 23:12
Such events as the TÅhoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011 or Hurricane Sandy in 2012 often lead to the most interesting alliances. Political, religious and business adversaries became allies overnight. A tragic occasion breaks down walls of separation and brings opposing parties together. But such union is short lived.
The Lord Jesus brought two adversaries together as allies. Their animosity was set aside for the goal of persecuting the Savior. Throughout the years Jesus has brought peace to a great many. For some this tranquility has been life changing, but for others it has been short lived.
The difference between lasting peace and short lived peace is found in why we seek Jesus. If we seek Him as the very Prince of peace we will find eternal blessing. But, if we seek Him as just a piece of the puzzle, we will come up empty. Have you found peace with God through the risen Redeemer my friend? Only then will you find lasting peace.
