“I will cause your multitude to fall by the swords of mighty ones, all of them most ruthless of nations. “They shall bring to ruin the pride of Egypt, and all its multitude shall perish.” – Ezekiel 32:12
We live in a day when numbers describe success; the bigger, the better. But numbers without the right heart and service before the Lord are of little significance. Such numbers can and will slip away ever so quickly at the moment that God calls us into account.
These chapters may cause one to grow weary with the pride, greed and self-sufficiency visited again and again. But the evil and its judgment are set before us with clarity and we have no excuse if we fail to learn. Without the Lord's blessing on the obedient life, nothing good will ever last. The multitudes will come for a time, but they will go just as quickly.
Consider the words of Solomon in Proverbs 15:16 my friend, "Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it." Don't define success by great crowds. Look for a heart of humility and faithfulness to the ways of the Lord. There is no greater achievement than a life that is satisfied with the Lord Himself above all other treasures.
