He came to make a difference...

Today's Readings: OT -  1 Kings 18:20-40 / NT - Revelation 15-16

"And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O LORD, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed." - Revelation 15:3-4

Every parent looks into the face of their newborn child with extraordinary expectations. What will their little one grow up to become? Will they be a world leader, a skilled physician, or perhaps the one who discovers the cure for cancer? Whatever they become, will they make a difference?

When Joseph and Mary looked into the face their newborn child what did they see? The prophets, angels, Simeon and Anna spoke of Messianic promise and hope. Yet, with all the shared expectations, did they see the shadow? Across the manger fell the shadow of the cross, because this child came to make a difference.

The songs of Christmas speak of joy, hope and peace. But, this is only possible because of the "song of the Lamb". May you know God's indescribable gift of great joy this Christmas as you celebrate the Birth... Death... Resurrection... and soon coming "King of the nations" who came to make a difference.

Tomorrow's Readings: OT - 1 Kings 18:41-19:8 / NT - Revelation 17
