Where is the Love?

Today's Readings: OT - Psalm 119:113-136 / NT - 1 Corinthians 13

"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:7–8
Twenty-one years ago today our nation sat in shock and dismay. Almost 3,000 lives were lost in a matter of a couple of hours. The weeks that followed were filled with an outpouring of compassion and love for one another. Today... we sit in a nation torn apart over political, racial, and social division. Where is the love?

1 Corinthians 13 was not initially meant to be a pleasant poetic reading, written for weddings. It was written to address the division and strife within a local church. Favoritsm, greed, competition, and selfishness ran rampid. The greatest Christ-like spiritual quality was desperately missing. Where was the love?

Our ministry is the saving and nurturing of souls. The Lord has sent us out into the world to reach hurting and broken lives. But we can never accomplish this calling when we can't get along with one another. Are you filled with, and compelled by, the selfless, life-sacrificing heart of Jesus? Where is the love that never ends?

Think about this: "Not tongues nor faith nor prophecy nor knowledge nor martyrdom nor philanthropy, but love is the Christian's mark of distinction."
