“‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel. ’” - Matthew 2:6
Someone recently
mentioned their plan to start a new business. The main reason was an
unwillingness to work for "the man". Why wouldn't anyone be happy
working for "the man"? Could it be that many bosses, managers,
presidents, kings and various rulers are far from considerate and supportive?
Where can we find someone to guide our
steps and lead us into the New Year with selfless love and care?
It is most
providential that Christmas immediately leads us into a new year. What a rich and encouraging blessing
to have the Shepherd of Israel to direct and rule our future days. Jesus is the
good Shepherd, born in Bethlehem to die on Calvary's hill for his sheep. How
wonderful to have "... our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the
sheep..." ever ready to "equip you with everything good that you may
do his will" (Hebrews 13:20-21)
As we move into a new
and promising year, is "THE Man" leading the way? Jesus said in John 10,
"I am the good Shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep." (vs. 11) "The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own
sheep by name and leads them out." (3). Can you say with full assurance and true devotion
"The Lord is my shepherd"? And... are you following HIM?
