"For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?... So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple." - Luke 14:28, 33One motto for the United States Marine Corp is "We're Looking of a Few good Men". We all know what that phrase really means. They are looking for those who will give their absolute best effort for the Corp. With that knowledge no one signs on the dotted line without carefully counting the cost.
Jesus is looking for a "Few Good Men" in his pursuit of disciples. He isn't looking for people who are just going along for the ride. He isn't inviting those who want to be disciples in name only. He wants those who have counted the cost and are willing to give their "Utmost for His Highest".
Oswald Chambers entitled his devotional with the above words, "My Utmost for His Highest". Chambers caught the vision and heart of Christ's call to discipleship. Are you really a disciple of Jesus today my friend? Have you counted the cost and are you willing to go the distance?? Jesus is still looking for a "Few Good Men and Women"... that means YOU.
