Song or Soul?

“Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” -- Amos 5:23-24
God's people move from one church to the next for many reasons, but one that most often motivates the move is music. We need to have our tunes and they have to stir the heart or we can't really worship. Many believe if there is good music, God is successfully worshiped and therefore pleased with the worshipers. But, is it really that simple?
When the lifestyle is void of Godliness and goodness, all the music in the world will not please our Lord. It's like the image of Nero playing the violin while Rome burns to the ground. The cry for justice and righteousness rises above the melody and harmony of the singers. No well sung song can make up for a sin sick soul.
Justice and righteousness needs to be more than here a little and there a little my friend. God looks for those who worship Him to do so in spirit and truth (John 4:24) with a rolling lifestyle of justice and streaming conduct of righteousness. Is your worship all about simply crafted songs or spirit controlled souls? There is a marked difference.
