"Remember Lot’s wife." - Luke 17:32
Alzheimer's disease is very tragic. I have observed this condition in the lives of loved ones and friends. One of the issues of this type of memory loss is the way someone can remember events from many years ago and yet they can't remember what they had for breakfast. They basically live in the past.
In like manner with the words above, Jesus warns us not to live in the past. When we surrender our lives to the Lord and follow Him, we need to stay focused on the present and future for God. The past is gone and needs to to stay that way, but many Christians carry on in life with a condition of spiritual Alzheimer's disease.
Take counsel from Lot's wife and Paul's words in Philippians 3:13 my friend... "But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead". Stop living in the past and take hold life by the horns for Jesus. Redeem the time and "press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).
