"But fear not, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel, for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid." -- Jeremiah 46:27
No matter how we turn the pages, the Lord occasionally needs to discipline his people. Yet, while He will bring judgment upon the lost and unbelieving world, He will only correct and renew His children. The Psalmist writes in Psalm 30:5, "For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning."
When the corrective hand of your heavenly Father rests upon you my friend, don't be dismayed. His purpose is far greater than you can understand. He will bring out the very best in you and ultimately give you "quiet and ease". Remember, "... He also predestined (us) to be conformed to the image of His Son" and, "...neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:29, 38-39)
