"The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lordthe majesty of our God... For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert;" -- Isaiah 35:1-2, 6
While I'm not in a desert right now, I sure do look forward to the spring blossoms. And then the battle of watering the flowers and plants will begin. When the heat of the summer settles in, our garden and lawn often looks just like a desert. But, now and then we get a perfect summer rain that brings everything back to life. As my sweetheart of a wife says... "No one can water like God!"
If we step back with Isaiah and look down the prophetic valley we will see that in God's time the desert of this sinful world will one day blossom with beauty. The wilderness and dry land shall be glad with abundant blossoms and joyful singing. Only the Lord can bring life out of nothing and joy out sorrow. The promise was given to provide hope in dark days for Israel. After all, "No one can water like God!"
Has your life ever felt dry and parched my friend? Have you tried every resource available to water your soul, only to find a lingering thirst? Be encouraged in this truth, our God is the one who brings blossoms out of the dry ground and streams in the desert. Turn to the Lord and find a fresh summer rain and a great river of joy because... "No one can water like God!"
